Banswara, India

• Formed a youth group to get young people involved in sports, raise their awareness of issues like HIV/AIDS and gender discrimination and get them involved in the development process.
• Formed two women’s groups. The aim of these groups is to address the gender imbalance common in Indian villages. Through these groups women are empowered to have a say in community and family decisions, their skill level is increased and they learn about important issues such as HIV/AIDS and prevention of child marriage.
• Formed three “self-help” savings groups. Made up of both men and women, the groups promote saving for investment in small businesses.
• Organised a youth camp for 35 teenagers.

Health

• Fully immunised 2,193 children and 822 pregnant women and gave polio vaccine to 14,151 children.
• Provided nutritional supplements to 4,358 children and 1,403 pregnant women.
• Provided rehydration salts for 1,500 children who were suffering from diarrhoea.
• Held 15 village puppet shows to encourage breast-feeding of infants.

• Trained 140 adults through four adult literacy centres.
• Enabled one sponsored youth to attend a computer course.

• Helped in the construction of three family homes. One of these was made possible through a sponso’sr gift.
• Constructed six new wells and installed 16 hand pumps on existing wells.

• Distributed vegetable seeds to 3,000 families.
